Hello Madison Scouts Alumni,

It has been a challenging time for all of us. Hopefully, we are coming out of the past year and a half problems, and that we will be back to ‘normal’ soon. We are sending this note to let you know that we have a couple of alumni reunion projects in the works in the spirit of optimism in 2022.

The first opportunity will take place on September 29 – October 2, 2022 (a year from now) would be the dates of a reunion in Madison and a performance in the Oktoberfest Parade in La Crosse, WI. The weekend would begin in Madison, Thursday night, with a rehearsal. Friday would feature a morning rehearsal with the afternoon and evening reserved for socializing and a banquet. On Saturday morning, we will board the buses for the two-hour trip to La Crosse. The La Crosse Oktoberfest Parade is one of the best parades in the Midwest, and the crowd is huge and very enthusiastic. After returning to Madison on Saturday evening, you are free for the remainder of the weekend.

The second opportunity is an extension of something that has existed for several years. The event is the Pride Parade in Chicago, IL, on June 24-25, 2022. Participants in this event must have the same color guard skills. When possible, the group will accommodate different ability levels of performers. There are also places in a small music ensemble that will perform on a motorized float. Beginning on Friday night and Saturday morning will be rehearsal time. Saturday afternoon and evening will be socially oriented. The weekend wraps up on Sunday after the parade.

You can respond to participate in either one or both if you wish. We ask that you give both opportunities some consideration and submit your response as soon as possible. Please send us your reply no later than October 15, 2021 (next month). We will send more details after the October 15 deadline.
