Each month, we shine a light on one of our alums in the MSAA Alumni Spotlight to celebrate the incredible individuals who have marched with the Madison Scouts over the years.

Through the story of our monthly spotlighted alum, we’ll learn who they were during their time with the Scouts, who they’ve become today, and the profound impact the Madison Scouts had on their lives. From life-changing lessons learned on the field to lifelong friendships and career-defining moments, the Alumni Spotlight is your chance to see how the Madison Scouts experience resonates far beyond the drum corps season.

Our next alum to enter the Spotlight: Marco Iannelli

Marco Iannelli

Marco 2018 As a high school senior, I did everything possible to march in drum corps. After a recommendation from a staff member to send in a video audition, my journey with the Madison Scouts began. Throughout the audition process of my first year, I fell more and more in love with the corps and its history. When I received my contract, I felt like I had gained a sense of confidence that I hadn’t felt before. The rest is history.

Marco 2019 I started my time with the corps as an introverted autistic man who didn’t know exactly who he was or who he wanted to be. After marching those seasons, I feel like the Scouts have completely reshaped how I approach the world. I have become stronger, more empathetic, more confident in my abilities, and have a better understanding of how to live life. I didn’t just become a better musician. I became the man I wanted to be.

Marco 2021 I now work as a freelance designer and educator who’s had the opportunity to work with groups like William Mason HS, ConneXus, The Troopers, and most recently, the Bluecoats as a member of The Bluecoats Fellowship. I currently work as the Assistant Corps Director with The Columbus Saints, an all-age drum and bugle corps based in Columbus, OH. I work not only on the administrative side of things but also as the music arranger and program coordinator for the corps. I would not have any of the opportunities I’ve had, currently have, and will continue to have without Madison.

May You Never Walk Alone!
