If you are or have been a marching member of the Madison Scouts drumline, this video is for you: "Drum Corps Percussion: Top 12 Madison Scouts Drumlines." This video chronicles the Madison Scouts percussion sections from the 1950s through today, featuring the top 12 drumlines in the corps' history. The Top 12 were selected by the 1) average Finals Week placements and 2) the average Finals Week score.

From September 11th–13th, the farm of Randy and Karen Ferrie played host to a powerful gathering that proved once again: on and off the field, Scouts are always there for each other.

Decades of Stories, One Shared History

After a committee meeting reviewing all the numbers, the decision is official. Dublin, Ireland, will host our St. Patrick's Day performance in 2028. Our group of performers and their guests will number nearly 350, though we expect that number to grow. This adventure will be a bucket-list experience, no matter our group's age. Steven Don Vickers

April 30, 1949 – September 24, 2026

Steven Don “Steve” Vickers, longtime publisher of Drum Corps World, died peacefully at his home in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, on September 24, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. He was 77.

As we announced before, the Madison Corps Alumni performance club has been officially accepted into the 2028 Dublin St. Patrick's Day parade in Dublin, Ireland. The survey numbers were strong enough to advance to the organization registration window, where alumni officially sign up and pay their deposits.

I feel more connected to the Madison Scouts today than I've ever been, even when I was an active marching member, and it’s because of the Alumni Association.

Reflecting on Summer 2026: Another season of drum corps is complete, and we're already deep in the weeds preparing for 2027. If you didn't get a chance to see the corps this Summer, we have the link near the end of this article.

Speaking for the corps administration and staff, we're incredibly proud of the Membership's performance and the response they elicited from audiences around the country. It's safe to say that MadiSpin is a show Madison Scouts fans will treasure for years to come.

In July, I had the great honor of sharing the many successes of Rockin For A Cure with nearly 100 alumni and guests at the MSARP 20th Anniversary Reunion. It was a special occasion, since nearly everyone in the audience had participated in some capacity during the past 24 years of Rockin For A Cure ALS Benefits—these alumni and friends performed as musicians, volunteered, or supported by attending. And as you’re about to read, my short speech included a large “Ollie Mae” helping of gratitude and acknowledgment for everyone’s participation in building towards next year’s 25th Annual Rockin For A Cure – A Live Music Benefit for ALS.

Below are some excerpts from my remarks at the MSARP 20th Anniversary Reunion

“Tonight I’m here to talk about the great success that we all know as Rockin For A Cure. Steve Weekes founded this event in 1999, after being diagnosed with ALS. And each year, we honor the lives of those who’ve died from ALS. That includes Scout Alumni, Mike McKenna, Chuck Eikel, Steve Weekes, and most recently, Ken Geise.”
