ARRINGTON, TN — Picture beautiful rolling hillsides, wildflowers, wandering farm dogs, goats, alpacas, chickens, and even a resident peacock. Now, add two dozen Madison Scouts Alumni and Family, and you have the perfect setting for a truly unforgettable weekend. From September 11th–13th, the farm of Randy and Karen Ferrie played host to a powerful gathering that proved once again: on and off the field, Scouts are always there for each other.

Decades of Stories, One Shared History

Roughly two dozen alumni—spanning the marching years of the 1960s, ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s—descended on the farm for a weekend filled with home-cooked meals, friendly competitions, college football, and legendary storytelling.

With so many eras represented, the history shared was pure entertainment. Legends and familiar names like Scott Stewart, Jon Schrack, Chuck Cornouyer, Scott Pearson & Margie, Kent Eversmeyer, Brent Turner, Tim Spilde, Jack Reese, Scott Thompson, Mike Anello, Brian Hughs, Don Navis & Lynne, Keith Dudek, Boyd Garey, Mike Chiodo, Craig Mathews & Laurie, Laddin Montgomery, and a few others swapped memories about past competitions, iconic staff, and corps leadership. Of course, whenever Randy Ferrie is involved, you can count on many colorfully odd, unbelievable, and wildly entertaining tales—many of which, for obvious reasons, must remain strictly between the brothers who were there! You may think you know Randy, but you don’t!

Making New Memories & Standing Together

Beyond the laughter, the weekend was anchored by deep love and support for Randy and Karen. As Randy continues to face serious health challenges, the gathering served as a reminder that the Madison Scouts family is a lifetime commitment. Randy and Karen are fighters, and the alumni came to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them in that fight.

Even those who couldn’t stay long made their presence felt. Alum Carson Caldwell (ROOK) dropped by to deliver a jug of exceptional Tennessee Valley moonshine, along with custom mini-bottles stamped with the iconic fleur-de-lis. Each bottle was accompanied by a thank-you card bearing a powerful message from Randy: “Brothers by Choice, Brothers Forever, A Lifetime Commitment.”

A Lifetime Bond

The time we spend competing on the field is ultimately brief compared to the decades that follow. It is in these later years that the true strength, comradery, and support of the Madison Scouts Brotherhood shines the brightest.

As Randy beautifully summarized: “Life has many peaks and valleys, we’ve experienced them together and for that I’m eternally grateful. You’ll Never Walk Alone – With brotherly respect, Randy.”

Let’s keep sticking together, Scouts. The best years are right here.
