• 2026 Madison Corps Initial Interested members update

First, we would like to thank everyone for taking the time to complete the initial project survey. It helped us determine enough demand to continue moving forward with the plans for this exciting project. We've received over 420 interested surveys from potential performers, staff members, and other volunteers. We still have a few issues to lock down before we can accurately present a cost for each participant. This list does not include the current Scouts members whose added numbers could add up to another 100 participants.

rose parade article logoNext, we will send out another more in-depth survey in a week or two. It will ask for more detailed personal info, including contact, corps history, and potential project-specific subsection position information. We understand that everyone has a budget, and we are working daily to create an accurate estimate to ensure your ability to be with us. This will be the last official news communication contained on the MSAA website. After this survey, we will move over to the MadisonCorps.org website, and project-specific communication, including a members-only login area, will be accessed from that URL. Please stay tuned.

Below are those that sent us a "yes" or "maybe" response. This is not a commitment yet, but noticing a few friends expressing interest might help you get a little more excited for the future.

If you are not on this list, you can still complete the following survey in a week or so.

    Thank you,
    Craig Mason and Scott Pearson

  • 2026 Rose Parade was not to be - so what's next?

    The Rose Committee's decision

As almost everyone now knows, the Rose Parade Committee did not select us for the 2026 parade. The choice came down to a tie between our group and a Wisconsin High School. Since it was evenly split, the acting chairperson cast the tie-breaking vote for the band.

We spoke directly with one of the committee board members who had voted for us and recommended that we apply again for the 2027 event. It is noted that one of the people who voted for us in the split decision will be next year's chairperson. From a historical perspective, we have discovered that very few organizations are selected on their first try, and we've talked with a few who have tried for many years and are still waiting for their chance.

    What's next?

  • Alumni Group Performs at DOP

Brass Knuckles groupBrass KnucklesThis year, we have some very cool performance opportunities and chances to see other alumni continue to do what they love to do. Here are a few of those events:

The Brass Knuckles will be performing at the tailgate once again this year. Three members are alumni of the Scouts (www.brassknucklesquintet.com)

Alumni from the Scouts, Capitolaires, and Capitol Sound will join together to perform the Star Spangled Banner before Drums On Parade (tickets) and the Whitewater Classic (tickets) shows. We hope to see you there before 6:45 PM.

  • Announcing the 2027 Rose Parade Project for Madison Corps Alumni

    Dear all Madison Corps Alumni-

Thank you for taking the time to fill out our most recent alumni survey.

After overwhelming positive responses sent to us, we have decided to reapply for the 2027 Rose Parade.

    Moving forward:
    1. You do not need to do anything if you have registered and paid your deposit on our website.
    2. If you have not registered and paid your deposit, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible. This includes the few of you who received refunds from us. You will need to reapply/register/pay.
    3. Please encourage other alumni from any of the Madison-based corps to register and make a deposit (Madison Scouts, Capitolaires, Jr Scouts, Petites, Capitol Sound, 32nd Hussar, Southwind). Members of the 2027 Madison Scouts will also be involved.
    4. Check our website on occasion for updated information.
    5. Contact us with any questions or concerns.

Rest assured that you may ask for your deposit back if your circumstances change.

  • Rose Parade Alumni Performance Registration is Now Open

The Madison Corps Project (MCP) is the first of its kind. We intend to include all Madison-based drum corps organizations: current members of the Madison Scouts and alumni from the Madison Scouts & Junior Scouts, Capitolaires & Petites, Capital Sound, 32nd Hussar, and State Street Review.

This project proposal is for a group participation at the 2026 Rose Parade in Pasadena, California, from Sunday, December 28th, 2025, through Thursday, January 1st, 2026.

  • Rose Parade Communications moving to Madison Corps Website

    rose banner email

It's finally happening! The Tournament of Rose Parade Project website is officially accepting participant registrations. Due to the expected large number of participants and the scope of everything necessary to make this project work, we are opening up the area for people to "sign up" or Join and make their initial deposit to be a part of something unique. A help area link is at the bottom of the web page for common questions you might have already. If you have unanswered questions, please use the This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. link at the bottom of the web page. It's important to ask us if you have a question so that we can add it to that area for others who also may have the same question. All future correspondence with registered participants will go through the MadisonCorps.org website.

When you join, you will automatically be added to the project general member-staff email list and a section-choice-specific email list. So when music or other performance-related content is available, you will automatically access it, and we can communicate as a whole body or specific section. Also, you will automatically be added to the official roster list, which everyone can see.

Thanks for recognizing an extraordinary opportunity and being a part of it. Let's make some history together!
    ~ Craig, David, and Scott

  • The Official Second Survey for Potential Madison Corps Alumni

The response to our initial survey has been encouraging enough for us to move forward with a second survey. More than 400 alumni sent us their survey expressing a 'yes' or 'maybe' response. Anyone can fill out this second survey, even if you did not fill out the initial survey. The results of this second survey will determine if we, in fact, participate in the Rose Parade in 2026. Regarding everyone’s big question about the cost for each participant, the more participants there are, the lower the price per person will be. That also means that the fewer participants, the more cost per person will be.
