The MSAA is currently holding elections for leaders to serve on the MSAA board of directors. Nominations were accepted from Nov 1st - Nov 24th 2023, and current members of the board volunteered to interview applicants to help make sure every role is filled and that everybody is in a role they're passionate about. We now present the slate of candidates for the approval of the MSAA Voting Membership. The full slate of candidates is available below. Voting will be open through January 5th, 2024.
Reminder: To be a voting member of the Madison Scout Alumni Association you must meet the criteria listed in our bylaws. This means that you must have your contact info up to date in CorpsData.net, as well as attended one of our monthly meetings within the last 6 months. The MSAA Bylaws can be found here.

Chair - Randy Ferrie
Randy's passion for drum and bugle corps, particularly the Madison Scouts is immeasurable. Here are a few of his drum and bugle corps highlights:
Alumni Corps that Randy has performed with include Madison Scouts, Valley Airs, Bayonne Bridgemen, NYC Skyliners, Reilly Raiders, Crossman, Avant Guard, Blessed Sacrament, Golden Knights. Randy is now retired from a career of over 40 years as a Machine Design Engineer, Sr Design Engineer, and General Manager. He has been married to his wife Karen for close to 45 years. They have been blessed with three daughters and four grandchildren. Randy has retired to a farm on the south side of Nashville, doing his farm chores and playing his bugle! |

Vice-Chair - Sam Records Sam Records has been with the Madison Scouts Alumni Association in various roles since it began in 2018. In the past, he's worked tirelessly to build bridges between the alumni association and the current corps, has engaged alumni from all eras, and has created multiple successful fundraisers for the organization. Sam is passionate about the Madison Scouts and is endlessly supportive and proud of the corps. Sam performed with the Madison Scouts in 2015-2016 on mellophone and in the 2018 and 2020 alumni Mardi Gras parades. Sam lives in Westfield, Indiana, where he is the president of MP Records Association Management, a nonprofit management company. He provides technology solutions, coordinates events, and manages projects for professional associations. Sam comes from a background in computer science, graphic design, and project management roles. He enjoys playing D&D, watching Survivor, doing jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with his cat. |

Communications Chair - Bailey Johnson Bailey Johnson started her drum corps career with the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps in 2021 as a mellophone player among the first all-inclusive members to take the field. In 2023, Bailey returned to the Madison Scouts as an operations team member with a primary focus as the uniform manager. Her passion and love for the Scouts inspired her to join the MSAA and get involved in supporting the organization and the people who have also dedicated their time. As Communications Chair, she would maintain a consistent posting schedule online that is accessible to all members of the MSAA and those who may wish to join. Connecting and strengthening the relationship between current members and alumni is vital to Bailey and believes that can be done with someone dedicated to making these vital connections. In the off-season, Bailey is an elementary music teacher in Columbia, SC, works as the visual instructor for the Dutch Fork High School Marching Band, and teaches private French horn lessons. In her spare time, she enjoys reading books and spending time with her three-legged pitbull, appropriately named Scout. |

Governance Chair & Hall of Fame Chair - Kent Eversmeyer Originally from Murray, Kentucky, Kent marched French Horn in the Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps for five (5) years, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983 and 1984. Kent has since played mellophone in the 2006 Madison Scouts Alumni Reunion Project (MSARP), the 2014 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and both the 2018 and 2020 Orpheus Krewe Mardi Gras Parades in New Orleans, and the 2023 & 2024 Madison Scout All-Stars in support of Rockin’ for a Cure. Kent has served the Madison Scouts Alumni Association (MSAA) since its inception in 2018 by creating governance documentation (MSAA ByLaws) and process guideline procedures for the Madison Scouts Hall of Fame (MSHOF). Kent is a proud legacy father of a 2016 Madison Scout (Austin Eversmeyer, mellophone). He has been a passionate advocate and supporter of the Madison Scouts, including the introduction of Bill Streight to the Madison Scouts family in 2008. Kent holds a B.S. in Engineering Physics and M.S.Eng. in Computer Telecommunications. He is a Technical Fellow at Torch Technologies in Huntsville, Alabama, where he also plays Solo Tenor Horn and serves as President, Board of Directors for the Brass Band of Huntsville (BBoH) and is the Host Executive Producer for the 2024 North American Brass Band Association (NABBA) Championships at the Von Braun Center (VBC) in downtown Huntsville, Alabama on 5-6 April 2024. |

History and Remembrance Chair - Joe Murray Joe’s Drum Corps experience has been extensive, dating back all the way to 32nd Hussar as a tenor/snare drummer, 1969-72, Madison Scouts as a snare drummer 1972-76, Percussion Instructor for the Madison Scouts 1976-83, Percussion Instructor for Capitol Aires 1977, Percussion Instructor for Wausau Story 1978, the Board of Directors for the Madison Scouts 1997-2000; 2003-2018, and Board of Directors for Madison Scouts Alumni Association 2018-2023 |

Elections Chair - Brad Mills Brad Mills currently resides in Dallas, TX. He marched in 2014, 2015, and 2017, along with Macy's 2014 and Mardi Gras in 2020 on Soprano. He was elected to the MSAA board in 2021 as an At Large Member and Vice-Chair. Outside MSAA, he currently works as a Superintendent for a commercial construction company in Richardson, TX. |

At Large - Brent Turner Brent Turner, M.Ed - has been passionate about music and the marching arts since beginning to play trumpet in West Des Moines, Iowa, in the late 1970s. He has held many leadership positions in marching bands and drum corps since the 1990s. Brent is the President of Youth In Music. He enjoys time with his family and friends, golf, and his grandson Cameron. Brent is a clinician and adjudicator for drum majors and visual programs in the upper Midwest. He has written drill for drum corps, high school marching band, and The University of Minnesota Marching band. His teaching experiences include The Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps, Many Midwest High Schools, The University of Minnesota Marching Band, NDSU, and System Blue Live Events. Brent has judged all over the Midwest, including North Star Colorguards, MPA Drumlines, and Fall Marching Bands nationwide. Brent Turner taught full-time in Minnesota for 12 years at Eden Prairie HS. He now works full-time serving the marching arts community through Youth in Music, American Accessories for Band, nonprofit board membership, organizing marching events, band clinics, marching arts design, and adjudication. Brent is in the Hall of Fame for Youth in Music and Minnesota Brass Drum and Bugle Corps. He lives in Apple Valley, MN, with his wife, Karen, and has two amazing sons - Croix and Dalton, along with one Grandson, Cameron! Brent enjoys golf, playing trumpet, and conducting local ensembles for community and church events. |

At Large - Sam Powers Sam Powers is 28, from Dallas, Texas, and Marched Baritone in 2012. His first introduction to the Madison Scouts was via his high school band director, Andy Anker, who marched in the late 90's. Now he works in IT, and in his free time, you can find him competing in various strength sports, building custom mechanical keyboards, acting as the Vice president of the Dallas Chapter of the American Outlaws, spending time with his girlfriend (whose name is Madison which is a fun coincidence) and playing with his two cats, Yuzu and Mizu. |

At Large - Jorge Franco Jorge marched with the corps on contra in 2008 and 2009 and assisted in 2012 with the souvenir crew by driving the truck toward the end of the season. He participated with the MSARP in 2014 (Macy’s), 2018, and 2020 (Mardi Gras). Jorge is currently a pharmaceutical representative with UCB and is based in Houston, TX. He's been in the industry for seven years and has experience working in multiple states. Jorge attributes all his leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills to his experience marching with the Madison Scouts. He is looking forward to working with the Alumni Association and giving back to the organization. "I know what being a Madison Scout did for me and my career, and I hope that MSAA grows its reach to provide those opportunities to students across the country." |
The MSAA is excited to have three new members joining us this year and six returning board members. The new MSAA Board of Directors will take effect on January 6th, 2024.
