The Madison Scouts Alumni Association (MSAA) is seeking volunteers to help document the 2000-2021 seasons of the Madison Scouts! This is vital to ensure that the members of the future and alumni can look back on the storied history of the corps and be more connected to "the giants whose shoulders they stand on." A written history of the corps currently exists that covers from the early years of the corps through the end of the Millenium, but a written history for the past two decades doesn't yet exist. We are searching for volunteers to research and write the first draft copy for this project.
Each volunteer would select a year (or multiple years) from this era to research and write a brief history of. We are looking for the basic story of any given year(s) selected, including details such as show repertoire; tour overview and highlights; key design staff; a picture of the uniform; and anecdotal and/or funny stories that illustrate something unique about that season. The report doesn't need to be a lengthy, voluminous description of every detail of the year, we want a well-done short version so future Madison Scouts can look back on the wonderful history of the corps.
Once the history of each year is gathered, we'll begin editing and formatting it through the efforts of Steve Vickers, publisher and editor of Drum Corps World. Steve will handle all efforts to get this history in final form for release to the MSAA and other interested parties. We hope to have this project finished by the end of 2022!
