Barbara "Barb" Loeffelholz, 2025 Madison Scouts Hall of Fame Inductee.
Barb Loeffelholz
Barb Loeffelholz began her volunteer service with the Madison Scouts organization alongside her husband, Adrian, when their sons, Mike (brass), Mark (percussion), and Eric (brass), marched with the Madison Junior Scouts from 1978 to 1981. Adrian and Barb were known to travel with the Jr. Scouts in their motorhome, which was affectionately referred to by its CB call signs, “Leader” and “Yellow Duck.” Barb did many things for the Junior Scouts, including cooking, sewing flags, mending and washing uniforms, and merchandise sales.
As her sons moved up to eventually all perform with the Madison Scouts (over various years from 1981 to 1989), so did Barb and her volunteer service. Barb joined the “souvie crew” in 1982 and began managing merchandise sales in 1984, alongside Henry Barney and Pat Omilianowski. Barb’s daughter, Sue, was also involved with the “souvie crew” for more than twenty (20) years. In addition to souvenir responsibilities, Barb and Pat began sewing flags for the corps and (with a substantial crew) and made every flag the corps used for nearly two (2) decades (early 1980 through 2002). Barb and Pat Omilianowski assisted with the fitting of uniforms and the production of uniform accessories. This included assisting in the production of the massive piano flag from the 1985 show, which was a huge logistical challenge.
The Loeffelholz home also housed many Madison Scouts over the years for camp weekends, everydays, and even the breaks between tours. Barb continued with souvenir sales after her sons had finished their performance careers with the Scouts. This included Barb and Pat purchasing embroidery machines to give the Scouts more options for merchandise products. Barb worked for Drum Corps World for almost 20 years and then worked as the Madison Scouts’ office manager in the mid-2000s. Barb served the Madison Scouts organization for nearly 30 years before retiring at the end of the 2006 season.
