Edward Benjamin Matthews, 2025 Madison Scouts Hall of Fame Inductee.
Edward Matthews
Edward Benjamin (EB) Matthews (1923 - 2013) was a significant figure in the history of the Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps. He was from Madison, Wisconsin, and was a founding member of the Madison Scouts when they were established as a Boy Scout Drum & Bugle Corps in 1938. Notably, he was also the first Black Drum Major for the corps. E.B. was a natural leader in early public performances of the Madison Scouts and his story is magnified through the lenses of a legendary family, as he is the brother of Ollie Mae Banks, who is also being honored as an inductee in the MSHOF Class of 2025.
In recognition of his contributions, Edward "E.B." Matthews is an inductee of the Madison Scouts Hall of Fame. He passed away on November 22, 2013.
