Henry James Barney, 2025 Madison Scouts Hall of Fame Inductee.
Henry Barney
Henry James Barney (1945-2025) began his volunteer service with the Madison Scouts organization in the mid-1970s. Henry would tour with the Madison Scouts souvenir crew while on summer break from teaching 5th grade science at Schenk Elementary School in Madison, Wisconsin. Henry was drawn to the Scouts through his musical interests, as he could pick up and play almost any instrument.
Henry began working with Jeanne Beckman and the “souvie crew” in the mid-1970s and spent almost 40 years assisting with merchandise sales, serving on the cook crew, and running various errands for the corps when needed. Henry began managing merchandise sales in 1984, alongside Pat Omilianowski and Barb Loeffelholz, and continued in this capacity through the 2006 season. Henry then continued his service to the Madison Scouts with the cook crew into the 2020s. Henry exemplifies the volunteer spirit of the Scout Brotherhood. Henry passed away in April 2025 at the age of 80.
